Rouleur MMJ-4 BL/BE

  This bass has a woolly, organic, almost vintage sonic profile swimming in an undertow of modern tone. The one piece Black Limba body provides sustain, warmth, punchiness and creamy high end. The Brazilian ebony neck adds articulation, attack, and strong fundamentals. Dig in to find growl and grind from the pickups that hints at mild tube drive saturation. The smoothness of the ebony, slim C jazz neck profile, ultra low action (~1mm at the 12th), and GHS pressure wound bronze (you read that correcly, BRONZE) together proivides a nearly telepathic feel with a mid-forward tonal quality. 

One piece black limba (aka korina) body. Brazilian Ebony 21 fret Warmoth neck, gold med jumbo frets. Super low action (1-1.3mm @ 12 fret). Michael Bump Jazz bass p'ups are nestled together (music man style) under the grain-matched cover, and wired split/series. Series wiring has slight mid cut built in to keep the nice fat tone w/out being too thick. Gotoh J510S, brass nut. Seymour Duncan BO2 band preamp in the cavity. If requested I can retrofit in the traditional way (knobs above the wood). I have it this way as I don't find the need to change the settings beyond what I have available, and I really prefer the simple clean lines. Cover is held in place with magnets, so access is easy anyway. Tone knob to attenuate treble cut (CTS p/p pot). Oak-Grigsby 4-pos toggle. P1 .022uf, P2 .047, P3 mid scoop, P4 mid "boost". Passive and active tone circuits work in parallel and run simultaneously.

My custom body shape is well balanced with arm, belly, and neck pocket contours. Satin poly finish. Neck is fitted with threaded inserts - better than wood screws!
