Hand built tone monster! 4 string MM-J, designed and built by me, a long time bassist and builder. A unique piece of swamp ash, bolt on wenge neck. 21 medium jumbo nickle frets, Two 70's wind Jazz pickups under the grain-matched cover. The cover itself if 1mm thick, and does not affect the tone (wood is invisible to magnetic fields). Gotoh brass bridge, brass nut, Shaller tuners.
 
This bass has a crisp, punchy modern tone, with the unmistakable vintage sonic profile of swam ash. Angular yet warm well defined lows with sizzling high end snap. Great mid presence and punch courtesy of the wenge neck. Dig in to find growl and grind that hits at mild tube drive saturation. Good bite and clear trenching lows bolstered by the EB stainless rounds. Fender 70's re-issue Jazz bass p'ups are nestled together (music man style) under the grain-matched super thin cover, and wired split/series. Series wiring has slight mid cut built in to keep the nice fat tone w/out being too thick. Gotoh brass bridge, brass nut, Schaller tuners. Control cover is held in place with magnets. All cavities and wires are redundantly shielded for the quietest passive instrument you'll ever know. Tone knob to attenuate treble (CTS p/p pot). Oak-Grigsby 4-pos toggle. P1 .022uf, P2 .047, P3 mid scoop, P4 mid "boost". Passive and active tone circuits work in parallel and run simultaneously. My custom body shape is well balanced (look for the brass weight in the control cav) with arm, belly, and neck pocket contours. Gloss poly finish. Neck is fitted with threaded inserts - better than wood screws!This one-of-a-kind hand-crafted instrument play and sound fantastic! Balanced, increadibly responsive, with super low action ~ 1-1.5mm @ 12 fret.
