Fender "Super Jazz" Bass

FENDER "SUPER JAZZ" BASS. *PLEASE READ*
You are looking at a recreation of a fender jazz bass, circa 1990. This was built from the neck up, and is my neo-retro version, aka. vintage modified.
NECK: Fender 24 fret, 34" scale, MIK circa 1990, maple/rosewood, pearloid dots, bone nut. Neck has been freshly leveled, trued and dressed. Silky-smooth ultra low action at 4/64 @ 12 (see images).
BODY: Swamp ash with a mahogany/bubinga/mahogany center for a little added flava'. 70's pick up spacing. Custom contoured neck pocket and lower horn for thru-neck feel at the upper frets. Finished in nitrocellulose lacquer.

CONTROLS: Vol/Pan (stacked), Passive Tone/p-p (up/dwn = light/norm treble cut. Full CW = passive mid-scoop), Active Treble/p-p (up = p'ups in series), Active Bass/p-p (bypass)

This bass was hand-crafted from the neck up. The genuine Fender MIK neck has been professionally leveled, dressed and trued. Action set low @ 4/64ths @ 12th. Truss nut has been replaced. The body has been custom made beginning with a standard jazz body template. Then, the pocket and lower horn were reshaped for seamless access to the upper frets. The neck joint has been upgraded from plate/wood screws to ferrules, machine screws and threaded inserts for added stability, sustain, tone transfer, and as mentioned, comfort. Body has been dressed in nitrocellulose lacquer.
The p'ups are Fender 70's RI in 70's spacing for all the funky, scoopy, growly tone you'd expect. Like the neck, threaded inserts and machine screws are used in place of standard wood screws for precise height adjustment, durability, and high end build quality.
The electronics offer a wealth of tone rich options utilizing high quality passive and active circuits. As mentioned, the active component is the Nordstrand 2B. Very transparent in neutral, wired in parallel with the passive circutry. The passive circuit is my own design providing two cap range options and a adjustable mid-scoop with the tone knob dime'd. Series p'up wiring is also available for beefier bass and a more mid-forward attitude. Perfect for blues, grunge, or 70-90's rock era bass. The Nordstrand 2B preamp, while very transparent, adds the availability of a more contemporary attitude. Dial up the bass or treble for rumbling, trenching lows and sizzling highs.
The instrument is well balanced and weighs in just under 10 lbs.
