Here's a modern take on a vintage style. Edgy, growly, snarky, but still has a soft side. Exotic woods and classic tortoise shell trim make this one a looker. The satin texture on both the neck and body is just something you can't keep your hands off of.  The user customizable tone shaping under the hood along with the best p'ups possible from Nordstrand make it possible to get a range of tone from vintage to contemporary. Spec’d as follows:
Body: mahogany/swamp ash. Satin white poly.
Neck: Padauk/bubinga with pau ferro fretboard, 10” radius, 24 Med Jumbo frets, 34” scale, Hand cut bone nut, 44/70mm at nut/heel. The profile is a hybrid jazz/P-bass: Same thickness as a J, but a slightly rounder "C" shape with a little more fullness in the cheeks. Open pour satin CA finish that is rediculously smooth and fast.
Electronics: VPT w Ser/par toggle. Pan works in both series AND parallel. Nordstrand 60’s wind p’ups, 4 user adjustable tone ranges via dip switches in the cavity. Lightest (.0047uf) yeilds a resonant frequency shift that mimics a mid boost. .05uf is the heaviest and is the old skool standard tone cap value. The passive mid scoop circuit is similarly adjustable and works great with the series option! All wiring and components are shielded for the quitest passive system possible. I use solid core wire for the best possible signal transmission.
Tone knob function: CCW from center cuts treble as a normal tone control would. CW increases the mid scoop. Mild tube-like saturation when dimed.
Hardware: generic tuners, magnesium cast bridge anchored with threaded brass inserts.
Other features: string thru option for B string, tight string spacing 70mm @ bridge). Contoured heel pocket for clean access to all 24 frets. Neck joint is fitted with 5 threaded inserts. Super low action (1.5mm @12th) with a hint of fret buzz if you dig in. Warm, clean lows courtesy of the mahogany, ash, bubinga and string thru B. Classic style from the celluloid tortoise shell binding and matching tortie pick guard.
