T-J V Bird Bass

T-J V Bird Bass

P/J style, 33 scale (Ricky 4001), 24 fret, 17.5 mm string spacing, Yamaha BB2025 p'ups, matching p'up covers, Hipshot hardware, string thru, gloss poly finish.
All the growl, bite, bark and snarl you'd expect from wenge, limba, ebony and maple P/J with a sweet side too. Very punchy and compressed with clear, strong lows and mids like you'd get from a Warwick. Full warm highs that are creamy and clear. Gold EVO med jumbo frets. The super low action (1.25mm @ 12th), slightly shorter scale and the smoothness of raw wenge make this bass very, very fast.

Bass weighs 10lb 11 oz and is balanced

Body Wood: black limba with quilt/burl/flame maple top
Finish: three color burst with flaming crow graphic
Neck: Wenge with unique striped macassar ebony board, ash pinstripes, 24 gold EVO med jumbo frets, 12" radius, 43/70mm at nut/heel. Mineralized rough cut bone nut, fire opal side dots and fret dots, matching headstock. 5 bolt of my own design, Access to the upper frets easily rivals a neck thru build. Jazz profile, double action truss rod. Fitted with ferrules and threaded inserts. Raw.
Bridge: Hipshot D style, brass, string thru
Tuners: hipshot ultralight, open gear.
Nut: mineralized bone, hand shaped.

Tone Circuit: adjustable mid shift "boost"/mid cut, passive.
Controls: Vol (controls neck only). 3 pos toggle for bridge/blend/both full. push-push tone (up for adjustable scoop), down for light treb cut/mid shift. Push/push vol presents neck p'up only. Weird, yeah, I know. But its really practical for quick tone changes when performing live.
